- Why I specialize in trauma
- I decided to specialize in trauma because something traumatic happened to me several years ago, and at the time, I couldn't find a therapist who could help me through it. I think it's so important to be able to find a therapist who can, and I want to be that person for someone else. Because I've had a trauma that needed treatment, I know what some of those symptoms feel like, including what it's like to be hypervigilant. I've also had the opportunity to work with a lot of military members, so there's basically nothing I haven't heard. You can talk to me about anything, and it won't be an issue.
- How I create a safe, supportive environment
- My focus is always on your recovery. We'll go at the speed you need, and we'll do the work the way it needs to be done, so that even though it will challenge you at times, it won't re-traumatize you. Everyone is different, so the way I treat your trauma will be different from how I'd treat someone else's, because you have your own symptoms and your own feelings about things. Your treatment will be tailored to your needs, not built from a template meant for someone else.
- What I want to help members see in themselves
- I want you to see that you're capable of recovering, even if it doesn't feel that way right now. Whatever symptoms you're carrying and however you feel about what happened, none of it means you're stuck there. You have what it takes to get to the other side, and I'll help you see that in yourself.
- My message to you if you are struggling right now
- It does get better. You can recover from this, and you can have a normal, happy life.
