- Why I specialize in trauma
- My specialization in trauma comes from my own journey as well as professional experiences. My own mental health journey with depression has given me first hand experiences with mental health struggles, seeking support, and working towards growth. I understand the differences between feeling understood and misunderstood. Regarding trauma, I have been privileged to learn that we all have our stories, of trauma, but also of self, strength, truth, and so much more. Being a part of one’s journey of healing, connection to self, and growth is a bi-directional process that is a passion and sense of purpose for me.
- How I create a safe, supportive environment
- I believe that when one understands themselves, through support, they gain the ability to grow and heal in ways that just make sense. I stay grounded on the process of listening, providing feedback for your own reflection and processing, and ensuring that all forms of expression are safe and supported. I also prepare each session in order to be aware of how you present during each session, how’ve you been between sessions, and asking open questions so you can share your experiences in your own words. Attunement matters to me in every session.
- What I want to help members see in themselves
- No two people experience life, much less trauma, in the same way. Revealing one’s emotions, experiences, insight into responses, values, relationships, strengths, resources, and so much more are priorities. With this in mind, together we’ll find the right pace for exploration, healing, and growth that will allow you to understand yourself and what emerges.
- My message to you if you are struggling right now
- Mental health is a part of the human experience, regardless of our backgrounds, so you are not alone. The ways you’ve been responding are your mind’s effort to protect, so that makes sense. However, with support, you can better understand the reasons for your responses, utilize a variety of interventions, and create new responses that make sense to you and your life. I am confident in saying that you have experience overcoming a variety of challenges as well and want to remind you of that. I appreciate the effort you’re taking just by looking for support and it would be an honor to be a part of that journey.

Cultural competencies
Throughout my roles, I've worked with families, individuals, and communities across LGBTQ and POC identities. Those experiences shaped how I embrace and nurture each person's identities and strengths, with a focus on strengthening your sense of self. I also recognize that our identities can bring difficult interactions, whether within our families, ourselves, or society as a whole. I hold both at once: embracing who you are, while understanding those challenges and how they affect you.
